All of us at The Orphan Trust are excited to see the launch today of The Orphan Trust website. We have been working on an incredible project in the streets of Kerbala for eight months, joined together in a spirit of practical philanthropy for some of the neediest children on our planet.

Today we begin to tell the world about our work and, through this website, recruit more donors and volunteers to spread our mission further afield.

Food is the most fundamental gift we can give to those who are in desperate straits. When my brothers and I conceived the idea of The Orphan Trust early in 2018 we were modest in our hopes. Its success is both wonderfully heart-warming and daunting, as we look now to expand our reach.

We’ve learned lessons along the way, such as improving the contents and minimising the packaging of our ration packs to provide more to eat at the same cost. We will keep improving as we go on, thanks to the hard work and smart ideas of our orange-capped team.

We have made true friends among the Trustees and our people on the ground, but most of all it has been an honour and a privilege to be welcomed into the lives of those we serve – Iraqi orphans and their families for whom every day is a struggle. With food in their stomachs they are so much better able to study, work and give themselves real life chances.

Their thanks every time we arrive with a distribution truck is truly humbling. We hope that you will soon join us.
